There is no sensible fleet-only rate

A small fleet with high mileage, several drivers, multiple shifts or poor maintenance records may demand more work than a larger stable operation. Geography, travel and frequency of visits also matter.

Compare actual deliverables

Ask for proposed hours, site attendance, responsibilities, reporting, use of analysis software, incident escalation and support with historical compliance issues. Distinguish an introduction fee from the individual’s ongoing management fee.

Avoid false economies

A low price is not value if the individual cannot exercise continuous and effective management. The Traffic Commissioner must be satisfied with the suitability of the actual appointment. Request a quotation against your operation.

General guidance for Great Britain only, not a definitive decision for your circumstances. Refer to current GOV.UK goods-vehicle operator licensing guidance and Transport Manager guidance. Northern Ireland has a separate regulator and process.
