Confirm the position

Record the leaving date, your current operator-licence status, vehicles in use and the arrangements protecting day-to-day compliance. Notify the appropriate regulator promptly. Do not assume a name still showing on an electronic record means the former TM continues to manage the operation.

Consider a Period of Grace

Where relevant, apply to the Traffic Commissioner with a credible explanation, temporary control measures and a realistic replacement plan. A Period of Grace is discretionary; never assume it has been granted merely because you requested one.

Plan a workable appointment

Shortlist a CPC holder whose current commitments, location and experience support genuine continuous and effective management. Complete due diligence and the relevant nomination process; an introduction is not approval.

General guidance for Great Britain only, not a definitive decision for your circumstances. Refer to current GOV.UK goods-vehicle operator licensing guidance and Transport Manager guidance. Northern Ireland has a separate regulator and process.
